Post-Pipeline Flow Chart
Post-Pipeline Progress Summary January -June 2001
Computer Purchases
- Sun Ultra 80 Workstation (shapley.astro.wisc.edu)
- Linux Workstation (Dell dual-processor 933 MHz) (oort.astro.wisc.edu)
- Linux Workstation (Dell dual-processor 1.7 GHz) (cecilia.astro.wisc.edu)
Database Development
Pipeline Development
- Chose OPUS for Pipeline software, OPUS v2.2 currently installed on
shapley (new version, v3.2, is still in the works)
- Using SWIG packages to generate PERL modules to allow interface
between database, OPUS, and Post-Pipeline modules. Essentially, this
allows direct communciation between fortran routines and PERL & shell
environments.
- GLIMPSE post-pipeline processing prototype
is running on shapley using OPUS. It retrieves data
to be processed, runs some level A, B and C processes. Fits headers
are updated for level A and B processes and a GBSC is produced.
Test Data Generated
Level A - Validation
- Fortran programs were written to read in the suite of 8 test images per channel per
exposure and perform checks for frame quality, AOR execution and SSC processing step
completion. A new calibrated image file is created with information added to the fits header.
Level B - Basic Processing and Mask Propagation
- Fortran programs were written to read in the new
calibrated image from level A processing,
calculate the zodiacal light intensity given the channel, position & time
of the observation, and add
that information to the fits header. A new calibrated image file is created.
- Zodiacal light calculation plots(04/11/2001)
Level C - Processing for GLIMPSE Bright Source Catalog
Level D - Mosaic Images
- Initial research was done on mosaicing tools - Drizzle, IRAF, IDL
Level E - Processing for GLIMPSE Point Source Catalog
Accomplishments to Date
- Database Creation & Interaction
- IRAC Test Data Generated
- Zodiacal Light Intensity Calculation
- Automatic Photometry Processing
- Some Level A & B programs written
- Pipeline Processing of Test Data using OPUS
Goals for July-Oct 2001
- GUI tool for quicklook validation (display all 4 bands + resampled MSX 8 um
image + 2MASS possibly)
- Develop more validation criteria & concepts
- Database design iterations
- PERL modules for database access
- OPUS - more processes; parallel processes, etc.
- More Test Data - using, IRAC team's simulator with our star fields; complete
AOR & segment
- DAOPHOT - eliminate dependence on IRAF (modify I/O to read fits files. WCS
calls to IRAF libraries); more testing; compare to S-extractor.
- Continue programming Level A,B,& C tasks and add to pipeline.
