Data Products - Deliverables
- GLIMPSE Bright Source Catalog (20 sigma above the noise)
- GLIMPSE Point Source Catalog (5 sigma above the noise)
- Mosaic Images
- Data Analysis Software
Web Infrared Toolshed updated for IRAC and MIPS observations;
wider range of model parameters; estimate of mid- and far- IR line
intensities
Current People (Fractional Time Commitment)
- Barbara Whitney (0.375) - Database Development, Generating Test Data, Mosaicing
- Mike Wolff (0.375) - Database Development, Automation
- Mark Wolfire (0.375) - Zodiacal Light calculation, other bkgs, Web tools
- Brian Babler (0.167) - Photometry (DAOPHOT)
- Marilyn Meade (0.167) - Generating Test Data, Level A & B processes

Post-Pipeline Flow Chart
Post-Pipeline Progress Summary Jan -Apr 2001
Computer Purchases
- Sun Ultra 80 Workstation (shapley.astro.wisc.edu)
- Linux Workstation (Dell dual-processor 933 MHz) (oort.astro.wisc.edu)
Database Development
- Database Definitions: version
20010215a(pdf file)
- Test Data delivered to database group.
- Prototype of GLIMPSE Database has been created on remote systems
by the Milwaukee group. Snapshot will be installed on shapley within
next month.
- Scripts written to allow data "reloading" to accomodate the ability
to create database from "scratch."
- PERL scripts being developed to allow retrievals and
insertions from outside of Oracle command environment.
Pipeline Software
- Chose OPUS for Pipeline software, OPUS v2.4 currently installed on
shapley (new version, v3.2, is still in the works)
- Using SWIG packages to generate PERL modules to allow interface
between database, OPUS, and Post-Pipeline modules. Essentially, this
allows direct communciation between fortran routines and PERL & shell
environments.
Test Data Generated
Level A - Validation
- Fortran programs written to do bad pixel counts, noise level checks using the suite of test images
Level B - Basic Processing and Mask Propagation
Level C - Processing for GLIMPSE Bright Source Catalog
- DAOPHOT will most likely be the photometry package
- Can run DAOPHOT within IRAF using a script producing crowded-field star lists automatically.
Stellar PSF is determined from the image data; coordinates derived from header info.
Magnitudes are relative magnitudes so far.
Level D - Mosaic Images
- Initial research was done on mosaicing tools - Drizzle, IRAF, IDL
Level E - Processing for GLIMPSE Point Source Catalog
Tasks & Timeline
Funding
- Currently have 1.52 FTEs in core group
- Preferred commitment level would be
Whitney (1/3) + Wolff (1/3) + Wolfire (1/3) + Babler (1/3) + Meade (1/3) + Esquivel (1/8) = 1.8 FTE
