Data Processing Group Report for the Week of Feb. 26 - Mar. 2 Note, the Processing web page has moved to the GLIMPSE site. Babler, Churchwell, Meade, & Whitney met with Rhodri Evans on Feb. 28. Rhodri works on the HAWC, a far-IR camera for SOFIA. This could be a good followup instrument for the galactic plane survey. Spatial resolution will be similar to IRAC (better than MIPS). He has experience with data reduction and has written several scripts for running IRAF in a "pipeline" process. These are at http://astro.uchicago.edu/home/web/rhe/Astronomy/scripts.html Brian got the password from him to access these scripts and can send them to you in email if you want. Wolfire improved his Zodi plots and they look cool. He added IRAC band averaging for bands 1,2, and 3, and made comparisons with the Spot model which he will discuss at the telecon tomorrow. Meade wrote a routine to write the IRAC FITS header example that Tony Marston sent to a WFPC data FITS file; started to define the FITSIO modules needed in Level A & B processing; read about 2MASS and HAWC; started working on a GLIMPSE data pipeline flow chart. Babler downloaded SPS (Stellar Photometry Software) and compiled it on Oort (Linux box); downloaded Dophot and compiled it on one of the IRIX machine at SAL (not able to compile it successfully on Oort yet), and is running Daophot with IRAF. We now have 3 different photometry packages that we can test. Esquivel's new task is updating web sites with weekly information. Wolff investigated f77/c calls from Perl (and vice versa); arranged for testing of Condor on distributed systems at BRC (milwaukee group); began work on use of FITS astrometry and plate scale keywords in GLIMPSE processing algorithms.
