Data Processing Group Report for the Week of Feb 12-16 Note: these will be posted on a website, http://www.sal.wisc.edu/~meade/sirtf/, linked from the UW web site. 1) Wolff recommended we use OPUS as our pipeline software (http://www.stsci.edu/software/OPUS/). the team agreed. Wolff ordered OPUS. It should arrive in a few weeks. 2) Wolff sent more information to database group. 3) Whitney & Meade organized a tasklist, with input from the Group. This was useful and began to clarify roles. These roles as we see them currently are: Database: Wolff & Whitney Pipeline architecture: Wolff & Babler Frame processing: Meade, Whitney, & Wolfire Photometry: Babler & Meade Mosaicking: Whitney, PDF, & Wolff Catalogs: Wolff & Meade These are not set in stone, and will change in the Fall when more team members will contribute (Kolbulnicky, PDF, Watson) and when more efforts are put into Validation. 4) Churchwell & Whitney organized a project diagram (still in progress). 5) Wolfire worked on the Zodi subtraction subroutine 5) Meade made a web page for the group, including useful links, documentation of data reduction, and our own documents (http://www.sal.wisc.edu/~meade/sirtf/). 6) Wolff downloaded WFPC2 images of the R136 region to use as sample data. 7) Babler and Meade used DAOPHOT within IRAF on MSX images. Suggested Work Plan for next week: Babler and Meade, as the future photometry experts, will continue learning more about DAOPHOT. This will be an ongoing process over the next few months, as there are a lot of parameters to understand. We will make use of expertise in the astronomy department. Babler: download standalone DAOPHOT and manuals. Meade & Whitney: Write wrapper for Zodi subroutine to make it a standalone program that updates the fits header. Write programs to do some of the easy frame tasks in Level A & B. Whitney & Wolff (possibly Esquivel): Begin generating fake test data (masks, noise, cosmic rays, bad pixels). Wolff: work with Milwaukee group on database. Wolfire: continue working on Zodi.
