Comparison of Band 1 images: IRAC.1.0000000001.0002.0000.10.mipl.flat.fits (a.k.a. image1) IRAC.1.0000000001.0005.0000.10.mipl.flat.fits (a.k.a. image2) which overlap by 1/2 of the image. In that overlap area (roughly 128X256 pixels) The truth image has 37 stars brighter than 13.0th mag The truth image has 81 stars brighter than 13.5th mag The truth image has 149 stars brighter than 14.0th mag The truth image has 263 stars brighter than 14.5th mag The truth image has 443 stars brighter than 15.0th mag The truth image has 672 stars brighter than 15.5th mag The truth image has 2214 stars fainter than 15.5th mag DAOPHOT found 1022 stars in the overlap area of image1. DAOPHOT found 1000 stars in the overlap area of image2. Comparing those 2 lists 816 stars agree 1-to-1 within a 0.75 pixel radius. There were 15 occurances where one list listed 2 stars while the other list had only 1 star, however the combined fluxes in these disputed areas agreed. Of these 15 occurances when compared to the truth list all but 2 of those areas actually had 2 or more stars in a 1.5 pixel radius. NOTE: When comparing output from DAOPHOT lists, stars were matched when their positions agreed to within a radius of 0.75 pixels. When comparing the DAOPHOT list with the truth list a match was defined by a larger 1.5 pixel radius do to the inaccuracy of the truth list positions produced by Ashby's conversion of spatial coordinates. NOTE: Since the truth list extends down to 20th magnitude, and DAOPHOT cannot detect stars that faint, when multiple truth image stars fall within the 1.5 pixel radius of a detected DAOPHOT source, all flux of all stars within that radius are coadded and compared to the detected source. On occasion there may also be more than one DAOPHOT detected source within the 1.5 pixel radius, those detected sources were also coadded. For completeness any DAOPHOT source within 1.5 pixels of the truth image star was considered a match. For reliability false stars were defined as stars only in the DAOPHOT list which had no truth image star within a 1.5 pixel radius, or in cases were DAOPHOT produced multiple stars within a 1.5 pixel radius and the matched truth images stars totalled less than the DAOPHOT number of stars. If the truth image had multiple stars within the 1.5 pixel radius of a single DAOPHOT star, the match is considered reliable, the stars in the truth image are simply considered unresolvable. NOTE: These images contain no saturated stars.
