Minutes for Telecon for May 21, 2002 Present: Churchwell, Watson, Meade, Whitney, Stolovy, Indebetouw, Babler, Wolfire, Benjamin, Clemens, Marston, Mathis, Ashman Next telecon: Tuesday June 4, 2002, 11 am CDT, 608-265-1000 #4112 On Monday Ed, Barb & Remy sent the team their latest versions of the Power Point presentations for the SSC Review on May 24. Also on Monday Barb, Remy and John M. sent the team the latest drafts of the Science Data Products Document, Science and Data Requirements Document and the Observing Strategy Validation Document. Comments about the 3 documents should be sent to Barb, John & Remy. The 3 documents will be handed out at the Review. Power Point Presentations Dan emailed detailed comments for each of the Power Point presentations. Delivery schedules The M16 ERO is close to the science validation observation. It would be ~40 min AOR (15' field). There is a short time between the end of our validation obs and when our first segment might be observed. It might take about 10 days after the end of our verification obs to get the data from the SSC. We also need to be aware of GO schedules when planning the segments. SSC will reprocess all the data at the end of Year 1. We need a consensus on what our schedules are for delivery of the science products. GBSC every 3 months? How much interest will there be in getting the mosaic images out quickly? SSC will produce mosaic images on an AOR basis. Pipeline/Mosaicer How much detail do they want to know on the pipeline? We will try out both the SSC and IRSA mosaicers. What do we want from the SSC mosaicer? We should tell them what we need and when we need it. They have a schedule posted on the Legacy website of the post-BCD pipeline products and schedules for what products will have what capabilities when. We submitted some data to the SSC awhile ago and have received data back from them which was run through their mosaicer. Haven't had the time to look at it closely. They commented that we had very little overlap between images. Remy may travel there this summer to get more info about the post-BCD pipeline programs and bring beta versions back for us to use. The public release of the SSC mosaicer v6.2 will be in September. Remy's presentation Suggestion to add a slide about the truth image and the method and process of the C & R before going to into the graphs. and to not talk as much about ch 4 since it's the poorest channel. Focus on the positives. It's important to have good reliability. We may need to back off on magnitude requirements in bands 3 & 4. Maybe we can flag objects in the particular bands so we can keep our magnitude limit. Want a positive start and positive end to the presentations. Note: New AORs using SPOT v6.0 need to be submitted by June 14.
