Minutes for Telecon for May 7, 2002 Present: Churchwell, Watson, Meade, Whitney, Jackson, Babler, Wolff, Wolfire, Benjamin, Clemens, Marston, Mathis, Ashman Next telecon: Tuesday May 21, 2002, 11 am CDT, 608-265-1000 #4112 Report of the SUP meeting last week---------------------Dan The SIRTF observatory is fully integrated. The instruments are cold. The solar panels have been installed. The end-to-end tests are done. The Jan 9, 2003 launch could happen! IRAC - No new anomalies. The PSF is better than expected. They will modify the dither tables for a "super-dither". They are doing data analysis experiments. Darks in the lab will be different than darks in orbit. MIPS - SED mode - ready for initial GO call IRS - stable - no change in long/low Phase B costs - the project has asked for more money from NASA. IOC and Science verification plan not that well developed yet. They discussed the funding map for this year. For the May Review, we should mention the funding shortfalls and delays and quantify the impact to GLIMPSE. New SIRTF Observers Manual PSF widths have been updated. The new version of the SIRTF Observers Manual (SOM) has the latest information. The channels have deeper wells, lower bias levels and the saturation limits have been adjusted. PSF width Band 1 10.5 Band 2 13.0 Band 3 14.3 Band 4 18.6 GLIMPSE Documents Science & Data Requirements---------------------John Dan is unhappy with the present draft and suggested a new outline. John would like to talk about the science of the team to justify why we need "x". Dan would have less discussion of science. Says we don't have to resell the science. Dan will work on a draft. Bob likes the tradeoffs table. John and Dan will have frank and useful discussions and converge on a version they both are comfortable with. Data Products Description----------------------------Barb & Marilyn The latest version of the data products document was sent to the team for comments. We will do band-filling for the GPSC but not the GBSC. We are trying to figure out how to propagate flags to the mosaic images. Mark mentions that there are errors associated with calculating the zodi that were not included in the doc. There may be a 30% uncertainty in the zodi model for the IRAC bands. Dan emailed some comments before the telecon and Mark also sent comments about the WITS section. Summer 2003 meeting We got cut off at noon (due to the different telecon setup) but Ed mentioned in an email later in the day that people should think about a GLIMPSE meeting next summer to highlight GLIMPSE science which may be hosted by BU. We'll discuss it in a future telecon.
