Budget profile update - Ed

Ed spent 3 days working on the budget, then was told not to
use those figures. We will be getting a new budget profile.
UW Research Administration asked if they should close
our account in January since they hadn't received any new
money from our project. The UW will keep us going for
awhile. NASA turned the faucet back on all centers'
budgets. Ed will work on budget as soon as he gets something
     from Michael Bicay.

Target dates - Ed

At our UW local group meeting of Nov 6, we came up with
some target dates for getting things done, in anticipation
of the May SSC Data Products Review. They are the following:
      IRAC simulated data (Nov-Dec) Barb
Data Specification Document (first draft; January) Remy
All Steps of Pipeline up through Level C (May) Barb, Mike, Mark,
        Brian,Marilyn,Remy
      Work on Mosaicer (May) Barb,Mark
Validation Observation Plan (Feb) Remy & team
Backup AOR plan (end Feb) Chip, Christer (revise our present AORs
           later)

Team meeting - Ed

Ed suggests a team meeting in Madison March 15 & 16 (Fri & Sat)
Please let him know if you can make it on those dates.
Susan suggested getting together informally at the Jan AAS.
Susan, Remy, Bob, Chip?, Christer?, Jim, Tom may be there.
Bob will arrange the AAS group meeting

Working Group Reports

  Pipeline group - Barb

We have the new version of OPUS (v3.2) and it will be installed
on both the sun and linux machines. This version can run
on the linux platform, unlike the previous version we had.
Mark has been working on the Quick Look Validation Tool (QLVT)
and has been making good progress. Brian has been working on
using DAOPHOT on 2MASS Atlas image data and comparing his results
to the 2MASS Point Source catalog. We have downloaded
the 2MASS 2nd Release Atlas images from our GLIMPSE survey
      region, which is approximately l=+48 to +65 (b = -1 to +1)
plus a few areas around l=+11, +20, and +27. (A small part of
our survey region but a large dataset Megabyte-wise)
We are hoping to get SSC's beta version of their mosaicer,
band-merger and point source extractor from Dave Shupe
by early-mid December. And we are hoping to get Matt Ashby's
IRAC raw data simulator by the end of the week (since postponed
to the end of Nov). Tony has mentioned to SSC folks several
times that we need the IRAC BCD data simulator. Not sure when
that will be available. The BCD products have not been finalized
yet, But Tony did say TNX will *not* be used for coordinate info.
TNX only works for sky coordinates, not array coordinates.
Susan will (and did) help us get more info about FITS keywords.

   Validation Observations - Remy

Remy is writing a SIRTF post-doc proposal.

   Calibration - Remy

Remy is looking at the pre-release 2MASS PSC provided by
      John Carpenter.
Strategy - have a network of calibration stars.
How dense of a network do we need? Martin Cohen can use
A dwarfs, K & M giants. Is it enough to have a calibrator
for every other AOR? Need to know luminosity classes.
An optical observation project may be needed.
Remy estimates there will be a calibrator in most (~66%) AORs.
Mosaicing issues: what if 2 adjacent tiles are different?
1 calibrator per AOR would be nice. We have about 500 AORs.
IRAC stability is important. we should consult with Martin.
SSC's plan for calibration...have a network of calibrators
around the sky. what types of objects are they using?
      how many? (a dozen?)

    Simulations - Barb

Plan to produce about 2 AORs worth of data (~2000 images)
Use Martin Cohen's SKY program data and/or 2MASS PSC.
Need more info on IRAC instrument characteristics.
We want images with realistically corrected instrument artifacts.
Tony says if we give the SSC some IRAC raw data (presumably
from Ashby's simulator when we get it), they can hand-process
       it through their current pipeline.

    Data Specifications Document - Remy

       Need results of simulations

LSWG telecon - Ed

Discussion points - need more info on BCD products, fits
       headers, files produced, PSFs
